SOCW 5352. CLINICAL SOCIAL WORK AND THE DSM. 3 Hours.
This advanced practice course develops students' competencies in the clinical assessment and diagnosis of mental health disorders across the lifespan using the DSM-5 with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. Emphasizing ethical and evidence-informed practice, students will learn to integrate client-centered approaches to assessment, differential diagnosis, and collaborative treatment planning. Attention is given to how individual, environmental, and contextual factors influence symptom expression, access to care, and recovery. Prerequisites: Direct Practice (DP) Plan Code.
