Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Graduate Advanced Studies

About This Program

The Graduate Advanced Studies Certificate is a flexible, post-baccalaureate non-degree program designed to support the professional development of managers, entrepreneurs, and executives across industries. Students complete 12–21 semester hours of graduate-level coursework (5000-level or above) in any combination of business subject areas offered by the College of Business. Courses are offered on weekday evenings, online, and on Saturdays to accommodate working professionals.

Applicants must meet standard MBA admissions requirements; a prior graduate degree is not required. All coursework must be completed at UT Arlington with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Competencies

  1. Upon completion, students will demonstrate advanced business knowledge and skills in the selected areas of study, appropriate to graduate-level academic and/or professional standards.
  2. Upon completion, students will be able to apply advanced business knowledge to analyze complex problems or scenarios relevant to the student’s chosen subject area(s).
  3. Upon completion, students will critically evaluate professional practices related to the business topics studied, demonstrating intellectual engagement and analytical thinking.


 
 

Admissions Criteria

This is a certificate program open to those holding an undergraduate degree from a regionally and/or professionally accredited institution. Applicants must meet normal MBA admission requirements and complete 12 - 21 semester hours of graduate business courses.

Use of Courses Toward Degree Program

Students who begin in the Advanced Studies (Professional Development) Certificate Program may apply up to 15 hours of completed certificate coursework toward the requirements of any College of Business master’s degree program to which they are later admitted and to which the courses completed apply.

Students enrolled simultaneously in a College of Business master’s degree program may apply up to 6 hours of degree-applicable coursework toward the certificate.

Curriculum

This broad array of classes is designed to sharpen the candidate's strategic awareness of business concepts. Admitted students completing 4 - 7 courses may be awarded an advanced studies certificate in business.

Program Completion

All requirements for the certificate must be completed at UT Arlington within three years of the student’s first enrollment in the certificate program. To be awarded the certificate, students must earn a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 in certificate coursework.
