SOCW 5304. GENERALIST MICRO PRACTICE. 3 Hours.

This foundation-level course introduces graduate students to theory and methods for social work practice with individuals, families, and small groups across varied backgrounds and contexts. It emphasizes a generalist perspective, including beginning interviewing and relationship skills, problem assessment, goal setting, and contracting. Special attention is given to common professional roles in social work (e.g., facilitator, broker, advocate) as well as the development of self-reflection skills in relation to client characteristics and contextual factors that influence practice.
