NURS 5454. ADULT GERONTOLOGY ACUTE CARE CLINICAL PRACTICE 1. 4 Hours.
This course provides supervised clinical experience in acute and specialty practice settings focused on the management of adults and older adults with acute and evolving health problems. Students apply theoretical and evidence-based knowledge to assess, diagnose, and implement patient-centered management plans under faculty and preceptor guidance. Emphasis is placed on developing clinical reasoning, integrating diagnostic and laboratory data into therapeutic decision-making, and demonstrating culturally responsive, ethical, and professional practice. Students will strengthen interprofessional communication and collaboration skills while gaining proficiency in fundamental acute care procedures and clinical documentation. Prerequisites: NURS 5464 or concurrent enrollment, and equal or greater 3.0 GPA.
