GEOL 5371. SEDIMENTARY BASIN ANALYSIS. 3 Hours.

Sedimentary basins are vital treasure troves of water, energy resources, Earth materials, carbon storage, and critical minerals. They are also time capsules that capture the complex histories of lithosphere deformation, surface processes, and global climate change. This course examines the origin, classification, and evolution of sedimentary basins, analyzes the stratigraphic record to uncover depositional history and signals linked to climate and tectonics, and highlights the economic importance of the resources. Prerequisite: GEOL1301 or GEOL3340 or cons. inst.
