ARCH 5692. DESIGN STUDIO II: MATERIALITY. 6 Hours.
Design Studio II builds on foundational studio work, exploring how materials shape architectural form, space, and experience. Students investigate the expressive and structural potential of diverse materials, examining how materiality informs concept, tectonics, and spatial organization. The studio emphasizes iterative experimentation, making, and critical reflection, encouraging students to develop designs that emerge from both conceptual intent and material exploration. Through precedent analysis and construction studies, students refine their ability to translate ideas into spatial and tactile architectural propositions. Prerequisite: ARCH 5690 Corequisite: ARCH 5392.
