About This Program
The Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance provides in-depth study on the management of money and draws upon concepts from economics, statistics, and mathematics to help investors and mangers make sound financial decisions. Finance is generally classified into three areas: corporate finance, investments and securities, and financial institutions.
Competencies
- Discipline-Specific Knowledge: Upon completion, undergraduate finance majors will understand theory and application in finance, investments, and financial institutions. This also encompasses basic finance principles such as the time value of money, risk and return, asset valuation, capital structure, and the functioning of financial institutions and markets.
- Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills: Upon completion, undergraduate finance majors will be able to think logically about financial management problems. They should be able to choose and implement appropriate models and interpret outcomes so as to generate creative solutions to these problems.
- Communication Skills: Upon completion, undergraduate finance majors will be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. They should understand basic concepts of effective writing and public speaking.
- Information Technology: Upon completion, undergraduate finance majors will be able to apply information technologies effectively.
Curriculum
Students must meet all lower-division requirements before enrolling for upper-division courses. Specified prerequisites are designated for certain courses.

Double Majors
Four Double Major options for the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Finance are available. Finance undergraduates who pursue one of the following Double Major programs will not have the option of participating in the Fast Track Program in Business.
Completion of the Double Major is attained by including all of the following courses in the BBA Finance plan and completing with grades of C or better in each of the double major courses listed below:
