Certificate in Technical and Professional Writing

About This Program

The Certificate in Technical and Professional Writing (TPW) is designed to provide working professionals and other non-degree-seeking students with the same benefits as the minor in TPW.

Competencies

  1. Students completing the Technical and Professional Writing certificate will be able to compose, evaluate, and revise user-centered technical documents and designs to meet diverse audience needs and communication goals.
  2. Students completing the Technical and Professional Writing certificate will understand and apply ethical principles, considering the impact of technical writing and design on diverse communities and stakeholders.
  3. Students completing the Technical and Professional Writing certificate will demonstrate competency and confidence in using industry-standard tools and technologies for writing, design, and communication, preparing them for careers in technical writing, user experience, content creation, and related fields.

To receive the certificate, all courses must be completed at UT Arlington with a grade of C or higher.

Advising Resources

First time in college students must meet with the Liberal Arts advisor at the University Advising Center prior to their first semester but should meet with their program advisor after that. Transfer students should meet with their program advisor to enroll after accepting admission.
