Post Master's Certificate in Military Social Work
About This Program
This certificate will prepare students to work with military service members, veterans, and their families in clinical social work settings. The Military Social Work Graduate Certificate for MSW Direct Practice students and alumni will enhance their ability to assume advanced evidence-based practice roles in working with individuals and families. The Military Social Work Graduate Certificate is designed for students and alumni with a direct practice, or clinical focus.
Current UTA students in the MSW program who have selected the Direct Practice concentration and are in good academic standing may enroll in the Military Social Work Graduate Certificate at any point prior to graduation. Non-degree seeking students who wish to pursue the Military Social Work Graduate Certificate must possess an MSW from a CSWE-accredited institution with a focus in clinical or direct practice and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher in their graduate coursework.

Admissions Criteria
Current UTA students in the MSW program who have selected the Direct Practice concentration and are in good academic standing may enroll in the Military Social Work Graduate Certificate at any point prior to graduation. To be conferred the certificate, current MSW students must complete the MSW degree. Non-degree seeking students who wish to pursue the Military Social Work Graduate Certificate must possess an MSW from a CSWE-accredited institution with a focus in clinical or direct practice and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher in their graduate coursework.

Program Completion
Fifteen credit hours are required in the certificate (5 courses). All students must have a cumulative GPA in the required courses of at least 3.0 with no grade lower than a C to obtain the certificate. Course credit will post to the students’ transcripts upon completion. The time limit for completion of the certificate program is 6 years, and the MSW must be completed for certificate conferral.
