Economics and strategy applied to emerging online markets: the gig economy (e.g., Airbnb, Uber, Slashdot), digital entertainment (e.g., Spotify, Netflix, Hulu), and video gaming (e.g., World of Warcraft, Play Store, Twitch). Economic concepts covered will include platforms, pricing, product positioning, social media, collaboration. Explores how various aspects of IT have transformed previous business models and how future developments could transform it further. Prerequisite: ECON 3310 or ECON 4311 or Consent of the instructor.
