Minor in Physics
About This Program
The Minor in Physics requires a minimum of 18 credit hours (including a minimum of 6 hours at the 3000/4000 level). Transfer students must complete at least 9 hours at UTA, 6 of which must be at the 3000/4000 level. A 2.0 GPA is required for coursework in the minor.
Competencies
- Conceptual understanding of fundamental physics topics: Graduates will be able to demonstrate a solid conceptual understanding of fundamental physics topics, including dynamics, relativity, electromagnetism, quantum mechanics, statistical mechanics, and optics.
- Analytical skills and critical thinking: Graduates will be able to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills by analyzing complex physical systems, formulating precise scientific questions, and applying appropriate theoretical and experimental methods to find effective solutions.
- Experimental and computational skills: Graduates will be able to demonstrate knowledge of experimental techniques and computational paradigms.
- Graduates will be able to articulate the skills and knowledge they have gained and apply them to future career, employment, or educational goals.
