Minor in Physics

About This Program

The Minor in Physics requires a minimum of 18 credit hours (including a minimum of 6 hours at the 3000/4000 level). Transfer students must complete at least 9 hours at UTA, 6 of which must be at the 3000/4000 level. A 2.0 GPA is required for coursework in the minor.

Competencies

  1. Conceptual understanding of fundamental physics topics: Graduates will be able to demonstrate a solid conceptual understanding of fundamental physics topics, including dynamics, relativity, electromagnetism, quantum mechanics, statistical mechanics, and optics.
  2. Analytical skills and critical thinking: Graduates will be able to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills by analyzing complex physical systems, formulating precise scientific questions, and applying appropriate theoretical and experimental methods to find effective solutions.
  3. Experimental and computational skills: Graduates will be able to demonstrate knowledge of experimental techniques and computational paradigms.
  4. Graduates will be able to articulate the skills and knowledge they have gained and apply them to future career, employment, or educational goals.
