Minor in Biology

About This Program

A minor in biology requires a minimum of 18 credit hours of approved biology classes that would be applicable toward a major in Biology.

Competencies

  1. Upon completion, students will be able to explain the types of evidence that support the conclusion that evolution explains the diversity of life on Earth and reveal evolutionary relationships amongst groups of organisms.
  2. Upon completion, students will be able to explain how the structure and function of cells affects their ability to survive, reproduce, and carry out specific functions in multicellular organisms including how genetic information is stored and passed from one generation to the next.
  3. Upon completion, students will be able to describe and demonstrate the scientific methods of observation, experimentation, hypothesis formulation, and hypothesis testing.

A minor in biology will consist of a minimum of 18 credit hours of approved biology classes that would be applicable toward a major in Biology.

A 2.0 Biology Grade Point Average must be maintained to earn the minor. Transfer students must complete at least nine hours toward the minor at UT Arlington, and six of the nine hours must be 3000 or 4000 level.
