Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Rural Health
About This Program
Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Rural Health will prepare individuals to have advanced expertise and knowledge surrounding rural health issues such as access, remote health care delivery, rural health policy, and promising new strategies for the improvement of rural health outcomes as per program level.
Competencies
- Upon completion, students will be able to construct a needs assessment of a rural community to identify strengths and gaps in access to health care for rural residents and opportunities for intervention.
- Upon completion, students will be able to propose strategies to improve the health of residents who live in rural America.
- Upon completion, students will be able to assess health conditions that are uniquely impacted by rural residence, both positive and negative, as well as modifiable factors that influence health outcomes of rural residents.
- Upon completion, students will be able to develop a plan for mitigating the barriers in rural health that contribute to social isolation and access to care.
Admissions Criteria
To be considered for admission to the certificate students must present an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or better on the last 60 hours in the undergraduate degree. Nurses must meet all the requirements for admission to the graduate programs in nursing including an unencumbered nursing license.
