Post-Master's Certificate in Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner

About This Program

Post-Master's Certificate in Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practioner enables individuals with a Master’s Degree in Nursing to take a national certification exam to be recognized by the Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the adult gerontology primary care specialization. Required courses will be determined by a gap analysis completed by the program director.

Competencies

  1. Upon completion, students will demonstrate competence in an advanced nursing role
  2. Upon completion, students will participate in scholarly endeavors to advance nursing knowledge
  3. Upon completion, students will provide leadership in professional nursing and interdisciplinary health care

Admissions Criteria

Applicants for a Post-Master's Certificate as an AG Primary Care Nurse Practitioner must hold a Master's Degree in Nursing (MS) from an accredited university [at the time the MS was conferred] and this degree must meet the general requirements for graduate admissions as well as the requirements detailed below.

All graduate nursing students must have an unencumbered Registered Nursing License as designated by the Board of Nursing (BON) for clinical courses. It is imperative that any student whose license becomes encumbered by the BON must immediately notify their department chair. Applicants for the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree must meet the general requirements for graduate admissions as well as the requirements detailed below.
