Post-Master's Certificate in Neonatal Nurse Practioner

About This Program

The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Post Master's Certificate enables individuals with a Master’s Degree in Nursing to complete coursework that prepares them for a national certification exam as a neonatal nurse practitioner and to be recognized by the Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. Required courses will be determined by a gap analysis completed by the program director.

Competencies

  1. Upon completion, students will assess, diagnose, and manage the high-risk neonate with acute and critical, single, and multi-system health problems using evidence-based knowledge.
  2. Upon completion, students will use pharmacologic and technologic therapies in the management of the high-risk neonate's complex acute and chronic illnesses.
  3. Upon completion, students will collaborate with other health professionals to promote quality health outcomes for acutely and critically ill neonates and their families.
  4. Upon completion, students will develop plans for health promotion and disease prevention in the care of the high-risk neonate within their family system.
