Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Healthcare Informatics
About This Program
The Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Informatics prepares students for advanced practice, education, management, and research endeavors to address a change in the health care landscape. Both full-time and part-time study options are available as well as online and classroom-based programs.
Health Informatics is an evolving discipline at the intersection of data science, health information technology, health information management, and data analytics focused on improving health and healthcare by bringing theory into practice through enabling technologies.
Competencies
- Upon completion, students will demonstrate skills in healthcare informatics to improve knowledge and information, decision-making, and effective communication.
- Upon completion, students will possess data analytical expertise to advise areas of healthcare improvement.
- Upon completion, students will be able to integrate healthcare-based science with analytical science to assess for patient outcomes, gaps in healthcare delivery, and advise in use of data to improve patient and clinician outcomes.
- Upon completion, students will be able to integrate healthcare-based science with analytical science to assess for improvement in individuals, populations and communities.
Admissions Criteria
3.0 on last 60 hours of courses of the bachelor's degree program (as calculated by Graduate Admission of UTA) for MSN students. 3.0 GPA in master's degree program for post-master's certificate students.

Program Completion
Students must complete the required 12 semester credit hours (SCH). A grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 is required to complete the certificate program. The certificate completion will be posted to the transcript at the completion of the required 12 SCH. Degree seeking students can also obtain the Certificate in addition to their graduate degree. Time limit for completion of a Certificate Program is six years.

Graduate nursing students will be assigned a degree plan once admitted to the program. They are encouraged to make phone, in-person, or virtual appointments as needed to discuss their academic progression.
