Post-Master's Certificate in Familly Nurse Practioner
About This Program
The nurse practitioner certificate enables individuals with a Master’s Degree in Nursing to take a national certification exam in their area of specialization and to be recognized by the Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. Required courses will be determined by a gap analysis completed by the program director.
Competencies
- Upon completion, students will demonstrate competence in an advanced nursing role.
- Upon completion, students will participate in scholarly endeavors to advance nursing knowledge.
- Upon completion, students will provide leadership in professional nursing and interdisciplinary health care.
Admissions
Applicants for a Post-Master's Certificate as an Family Nurse Practitioner must hold a Master's Degree in Nursing (MS) from an accredited university [at the time the MS was conferred] and this degree must meet the general requirements for graduate admissions as well as the requirements detailed below.
All graduate nursing students must have an unencumbered Registered Nursing License as designated by the Board of Nursing (BON) for clinical courses. It is imperative that any student whose license becomes encumbered by the BON must immediately notify their department chair. Advising Criteria
Graduate nursing students will be assigned a degree plan once admitted to the program. They are encouraged to make phone, in-person, or virtual appointments as needed to discuss their academic progression.
