Minor in Sociology

About This Program

A minor in sociology provides students with a deeper understanding of cultural factors that shape institutional norms, human behavior, and social issues in society. This knowledge is complementary to any major of study and prepares students for careers in fields like social services, business, education, and public policy by enhancing their analytical and critical thinking skills.

Competencies

  1. Upon completion, students will be able to use sociological theories and concepts to analyze social institutions and cultural practices across diverse contexts.
  2. Upon completion, students will be able to critically assess the impact of social structures and power dynamics on individual and group experiences.
  3. Upon completion, students will be able to apply a sociological perspective to investigate social issues.
