Minor in Military History

About This Program

The Minor in Military History provides students an opportunity to undertake focused study of the origins, development, and influence of armed conflict in the human past. Students fulfill the program’s requirement by completing courses examining historical conflicts and/or military eras. Special Topics courses devoted to military subjects may be counted toward the Minor.

Competencies

  1. Students completing the Minor in Military History shall demonstrate knowledge of the influence of armed conflict on human history.
  2. Students completing the minor shall demonstrate competency in basic research applied to an issue relevant to military history.
  3. Students completing the minor shall demonstrate the ability to use armed conflict as a category of analysis.
  4. Students completing the minor shall demonstrate writing skills and be able to present an historical analysis or argument clearly, employing good style and grammar in written English.
