Minor in History

About This Program

The Minor in History allows students to learn both content and skills crucial to success in the modern world. An appreciation for one's heritage as well as how it has differed in the past and for those of different cultures helps to develop our identity. Students of history develop critical skills: the ability to reason and analyze, the capacity to investigate problems and synthesize diverse information and the facility for expressing ideas and information clearly.

A minor in history prepares students for a variety of careers, including business, journalism and communications, law, and public affairs. More importantly, by providing insight into the causes and effects of change in society, a knowledge of history prepares every individual for life in a complex world.
