Certificate in Health Communication

About This Program

The Certificate in Health Communication develops students’ knowledge of communication in healthcare settings in terms of understanding and creating of health messages from various stakeholder’s perspectives including patient/client, community, and health professionals.  It will train students to use culturally appropriate strategies to promote attitudinal and behavioral change in communities using concepts and theories from health communication and public health. Students will learn about health disparities and implement strategies to promote health equity via service-learning and community engagement.

Competencies

  3. Upon completion of this certificate, students will be able to identifying social and cultural factors linked to health equity

Program Completion

To earn this certificate students must complete the core class, one prescribed elective, and two from the recommended electives; all with a grade of C or better.
