Minor in Communication Technology

About This Program

The Minor in Communication Technology equips students with foundational knowledge and skills in the field of digital media and user experience. The curriculum introduces students to the principles and processes of designing and developing interactive digital experiences. Students acquire basic technical skills in multimedia production and Web design. The skill set students develop from this minor complements careers in digital marketing, user experience (UX) design, content creation, data analytics, social media management, and information systems. 

Competencies

  1. Upon completion of this minor, students will have competency in understanding the history, evolution, features, and implications of information and communication technologies (ICTs).
  2. Upon completion of this minor, students will have competency in demonstrating foundational technical skills in multimedia production or markup and scripting languages for digital content creation.
  3. Upon completion of this minor, students will have competency in practicing concepts and principles of computer-mediated communication, user experience, and other related fields to design, develop, and analyze interactive media, such as Web sites and mobile applications.


 

Admissions Criteria

All degree-seeking undergraduate students are eligible to complete a minor in Communication Technology.  Interested students please consult an Academic Advisor in the Department of Communication.

Curriculum

Choose 12 hours of any courses across the Department of Communication in consultation with the Academic Advisor12
Choose two 3000/4000 level CTEC courses in consultation with the Academic Advisor6
