Minor in Photography

About This Program

The Minor in Photography prepares an art or non-art major to develop proficiency in photographic image making and printing. The program is fine art based and the tools that are learned are applicable to a range of practices.

Competencies

  1. Upon graduation, students will be able to articulate and explain with proficiency the concepts and ideas present in their artwork.
  2. Upon graduation, students will be able to skillfully operate a variety of small, medium, and large-format film cameras along with DSLRs and other digital cameras.
  3. Upon graduation, students will be able to demonstrate proficiency in a variety of studio lighting techniques and the use natural and available light in different real-world lighting situations.
  4. Upon graduation, students will be able to skillfully produce printed photographs using traditional analog processes (film and other light-sensitive materials and chemistry) and digital processes including large-format digital printers.
