Minor in Glass

About This Program

The Minor in Glass allows students the opportunity to explore the sculptural, conceptual, and functional aesthetics of glass as an artistic media. A variety of traditional, contemporary, and experimental glass working techniques are examined and utilized. The tools and skills learned are applicable to a range of practices. After completing five required courses, students can choose from a range of upper-level classes depending on individual goals. The student’s major department must approve any minor.

Competencies

  1. Upon graduation, students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of academic research through individualized interests and concepts.
  2. Upon graduation, students will be able to demonstrate the ability to conceive, design, and fabricate works utilizing glass as well as other materials, in a self-driven and proactive manner.
  3. Upon graduation, students will be able to analyze and critique the visual design and expressive attributes of various completed works and art objects.
  4. Upon graduation, students will be able to verbalize a clear concept and direction of research through the ongoing development of an artist statement and writings.
