Minor in Gender, Women & Sexuality Studies
About This Program
Students may receive a minor in Gender, Women & Sexuality Studies by taking 18 credit hours from a selection of courses offered across several disciplines. Many of our courses are cross-listed with courses offered in other departments.
Competencies
- Upon graduation, students will be able to communicate ideas and issues relevant to gender, women, and sexuality studies to a broad audience while maintaining both nuance and clarity.
- Upon graduation, students will be able to apply gender, women, and sexuality studies theories and scholarship to advance an argument.
- Upon graduation, students will be able to use key concepts from gender, women, and sexuality studies to offer critical analysis of issues within an established context.
Curriculum
Students seeking the Gender, Women & Sexuality Studies minor should first consult with the advisors in their major departments or programs for approval, then with the Gender, Women & Sexuality Studies Program advisor. Minors may also consider taking the Internship course, which involves working off campus at a local organization that addresses women's or gender issues.

Advising Resources
The Liberal Arts Applied Programs (LAAP) office offers advising for students majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies (INTS) or minoring in Law and Legal Studied (LLS) or Gender, Women, & Sexuality Studies (GWSS). First time in college students should speak to a LAAP advisor when starting their second year. Transfer students should contact a LAAP advisor when enrolled.
