About This Program
In partnership with Civil Engineering and the Center for Transportation Equity Decisions and Dollars (CTEDD), the College of Architecture, Planning and Public Affairs offers Post- Baccalaureate Certificate in Transportation Planning and Policy that prepares students to plan, advocate and engineer for sustainable transportation and for better equity within existing transportation resources and infrastructure. The certificate enables students and professionals with:
- an engineering or technical background to gain knowledge in transportation planning and policy
- a planning and/or policy-related background interested in transportation to complement their degree.
The program is open to both degree and non-degree seeking students.
Competencies
- Upon completion, students will be able to communicate planning information clearly and effectively in oral, written, and graphic form.
- Upon completion, students will be able to relate knowledge of the ethical and normative aspects of planning to the planning process.
- Upon completion, students will be able to identify and evaluate planning problems and to apply planning methods to their solution and communication.
- Upon completion, students will be able to identify and relate the factors influencing the growth and development of communities, cities, and regions.
- Upon completion, students will be able to understand the challenges that regions, cities, communities, and planners face in the field.
Admissions Criteria
Non-degree seeking students may apply complete this certificate by applying for admission to the UTA Graduate Admissions as a Non-Degree Seeking Student.
Students can also complete the certificate as part of the accelerated online MPA program by completing hours applicable to the MPA degree.

Program Completion
To earn the certificate, students must maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
