Minor in Information Systems
About This Program
Students pursuing a Minor in Information Systems receive a broad-based introduction to how technology works within a business organization and what type of technology should be used to solve business problems.
Competencies
- Upon completion, students will be able to gather requirements for business applications and develop application software.
- Upon completion, students will be able to design and implement databases to manage business data.
- Upon completion, students will demonstrate critical thinking and communication skills.
- Upon completion, students will understand core business concepts in various functional areas and apply these concepts to develop, deploy, and manage information systems that effectively address strategic business challenges.

Prerequisites must be met before enrollment in the course. A student should consider this when selecting courses to satisfy the minor requirement and when registering. For a complete list of prerequisites see the Catalog or the Business Undergraduate Advising Office.
Program Completion
The College of Business:
- Requires half of the course work for a minor in business be completed in residence at UT Arlington. For an 18-hour minor requirement, this would require a minimum of 9 hours of business course work at UT Arlington.
- Requires a grade of C or better in all minor requirement courses, unless a different grade is designated below.
- Will not use vocational and technical courses (including WECM courses) toward any business minor.
