About This Program
The Minor in Accounting provides a solid foundation whether you are aiming for a corporate career, planning to run your own business, or just want to understand financial decision-making. It builds practical skills, sharpens your understanding of how businesses work, and can give you a competitive edge when it is time to enter the job market.
Competencies
- Upon completion, students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the accounting process and demonstrate knowledge of the reporting requirements in financial statements and the accountants' impact on the economy and the financial markets.
- Upon completion, students will be able to demonstrate effective business communication skills.
- Upon completion, students will be able to research, identify issues and critically analyze responses and conclusions to those issues.

Prerequisites must be met before enrollment. A student should consider prerequisites, identified in the catalog, when selecting courses to satisfy the minor requirement.
ACCT 3309 ACCOUNTING FOR MANAGERS may not be used to satisfy any minor requirement.
Students must complete at least 9 hours of upper level accounting coursework at UT Arlington. Vocational and technical courses (including WECM courses) may not count toward any business minor.
A minimum accounting GPA of 2.0 must be maintained for accounting classes completed at UT Arlington.
