Analog filter specifications and design methods. Companding and matched filter. DTFT, DFT, FFT, and z-transform. Discrete time convolution. Amplitude, phase, and stability of digital filters. FIR and IIR digital filter design. Random signals and noise. Power spectral density and spectral estimation. SNR. Wiener filter. Prerequisite: Must be in the professional EE program and C or better in each of the following: EE 3316 and EE 3330 (or concurrent enrollment).
