Emphasis is placed on the development of paradigms in urban theory, from classic texts to important shifts and debates in the late 20th-early 21st centuries. Considers principal theorists from urban disciplines of planning, geography, economics, sociology, and how they structure their arguments about urban form and social relations. Aimed at doctoral students, as well as advanced master's students, both from urban planning/urban affairs as well as from graduate programs outside School of Urban and Public Affairs.
