GEOL 5151. TOPICS IN ENERGY AND EARTH RESOURCES. 1 Hour.
This course will discuss the historical evolution and current status of major research thrusts in the environment, energy, and resources studies, including Superfund and groundwater remediation, carbon sequestration, tight sands and coalbed methane, petroleum production in shale gas and oil reservoirs, geological repository of high-level nuclear waste, geothermal energy exploitation, mining of critical minerals, and gas (methane) hydrate. Prerequisite: GEOL 1301 or equivalent.
