About This Program
The Center for Mexican American Studies offers a Mexican American Studies Graduate Certificate to graduate students and non-degree seeking students to develop an interdisciplinary graduate concentration in Mexican American Studies while completing their graduate degree. The Graduate Certificate courses examine the historical, cultural, political, and social development of Mexican Americans and Latinos.
Competencies
- Participants completing the certificate will obtain valuable intercultural and international competence.
- Participants completing the certificate will identify and understand the prevalent issues that are affecting the Mexican American and Latino community in the United States.
- Participants completing the certificate will apply theory and knowledge produced by Mexican American and Latino communities to describe the critical events, histories, cultures, intellectual traditions, and contributions of these communities.
