Fundamentals and applications of modern electronic devices and materials. Topics include electrical properties of semiconductors, electrons and holes, energy bands, effective electron masses and effective hole masses, p-n junctions, drift current and diffusion current, metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS) structure, capacitance-voltage (C-V) plots, field-effect transistors, bipolar junction transistors, and integrated circuits. Prerequisites: PHYS 1444 and (CHEM 1441 or CHEM 1465).
